Last chance to see the bluebells and spring lambs, with the former past the peak of their annual glory and the latter heading for market soon.
Summer is here at last and the best time of year for chefs and foodies as all the new produce is coming on stream. We have Brixham crab salad, English asparagus with hollandaise, rack of lamb, local crayfish all appearing on the menu this week. Seafood is specially good at the moment, and we have fresh oysters from Fowey on the menu as well as wild mussels and clams and some beautiful halibut with home made linguini. We're getting into the swing of the smokery now and there are several home smoked items on the menu. The ham and corned beef that we cure ourselves in the traditonal way are particularly popular. We also have our delicious home smoked rainbow trout. Now that the weather is warmer, we are starting the wood fired oven again at weekends, so if you haven't tried our pizzas before. then you are missing a treat. A wood fired pizza made properly with the right dough is manna from heaven.
The winner of this months free meal for two is John Smith. Congratulations John, See you soon.
For those special occasions when you want to get the friends and family together, but can't face the washing up, try a get together in our other side. We've recently teamed up with Rupert of chiefsmarquees to offer a great package from about £20 a head including the marquee. The lawn is ideal for a function with its own bar and spectacular views.
